REFILLING TIPS
(HOW TO SAVE MONEY $$$)

The average cartridge can usually be refilled 2 to 15 times by our computerized ultrasonic machine. With the average saving of 80-75% over the cost of buying a new one, it makes sense that the more refills you can get out of a cartridge, the more money you can save. If you can refill your cartridge 6 or 10 times instead of purchasing a new one each time, the savings would be substantial. So, here are some tips on how to look after your cartridge to get the longest possible life out of it.

Although it’s the best to refill the cartridge immediately, our ultrasonic computerized system can successfully refill a few years old cartridges that completely dry out.

Things you can do to help get the most refills

1. Come see us as soon as you are aware your cartridge is nearly empty. (Putting it off may mean spending more later.) Stop printing at the first sign of any ink running out or if possible just before. If faded print does not improve with one or two print head cleans, it’s time for a refill.
2. If possible store in a ziplock bag or airtight container with a water damp cloth or tissue covering the bottom of the print head while awaiting refilling, this will slow down the drying out process and minimise blockages.
3. Make sure that there is no moisture on the electrical contact areas of the cartridge, if so, gently wipe clean with a soft tissue. Wet contacts can cause serious damage to the printer electrics
4. Do not use methylated spirited or alcohol to clean print heads, the chemical composition is not compatible and can cause blockage problems
5. Make sure that there is not too much moisture on the electrical contact areas of the cartridge, if so, gently wipe clean with a soft tissue.
6. Do not use any adhesive such as, packaging or standard sticking tape, as the chemical composition of the adhesive is harmful to the print heads
   
   Do not put shipping clips or tape back over the print head on a colour cartridge as this can cause colours to bleed together, the remedy for this is often a new cartridge, but please return the clips to us for recycling.  Avoid touching the copper connections and print head on cartridges.
7. Do not carry or leave the cartridges on the seat or dashboard of vehicles, even on a relatively cool day. Heat build-up will cause the cartridge to leak. Place them in the glove box and remove as soon as possible. In cold weather do not place on the car floor as the heater may also cause the cartridge to leak. Note: Even with a seal, the cartridge can leak
8. Don’t let a cartridge run out of ink completely.  Always have a replacement cartridge on hand. If the cartridge is showing ‘empty’, have it refilled or replace immediately
   
   Only unpack a new or refilled cartridge immediately prior to replacing it in the printer
